Pavement Management and Maintenance System (PMMS):

A large metro city

KEI implemented a Pavement Management and Maintenance System (PPMS). The project phases included:

• Needs Assessment: interviews with stakeholders to develop detailed requirements for the system.
• System Design: the design to meet the City’s requirements.
• Software Selection: evaluation of existing software products for compatibility with the functional system requirements.
• System Development:  the configuration of the selected PMMS software to customize the internal database logic for functions such as decision trees to meet the needs of the City.
• Integration/Testing and Training:  development and completion of test procedures and criteria for acceptance, collection of sample data, and testing of the PMMS for standalone service.

Challenges:

Challenges overcome included:

• Data: Working within available data limitations
• Schedules: Working with tight project time schedules
• Training needs: Providing training to staff with a variety of skills and backgrounds
